Gail Spitzenberger has been the Director of Special Education for the Burlington Area School District since the 2006 - 2007 school year. Gail earned a Master of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1981 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders from Marquette University in 1979. She obtained her Director of Pupil Services License in 2006 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
Prior to accepting her current position, Gail was a Cross Categorical Program Support Teacher for the Racine County School Office serving all school districts in Racine County for 13 years. She was a Speech/Language Pathologist for the Racine County School Office from 1986-1993 and held a similar position for the Southern Wisconsin Center in Union Grove from 1982-1986.
Gail is responsible for the Student Services Team, which includes all school counselors, social workers,psychologists, and Program Support Teachers. She oversees the cooperative transition program known as the PAC House, and coordinates all IEP’s and 504 Plans for the district. Gail is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Autism Society of America, Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Council of Administrators of Special Services.
