Boundary Evaluation Criteria
Evaluation Criteria
The Board of Education and district administration established the following criteria for the Attendance Boundary committee.
Projected Enrollment and Building Utilization – First and foremost, attendance boundaries have to factor in current building capacity and projected enrollment. Currently, most 4K-5 grades have eight classes or “sections” across the district. Based on building size, it is expected that there will be two sections in Cooper, Dyer, and Waller and one section in both Winkler and Lyons Center. The final plan needs to accommodate other BASD programs (for example, Acelero Head Start program, CATHE 3K, Southern Lakes Alternative High School).
Minimize Impact on Students – Decisions will consider future enrollment as well as current enrollment. We want to be thoughtful about how this decision will impact students. We want the final boundaries to make sense when it comes to neighborhoods.
Fiscal Responsibility – Boundaries should be planned to maximize district resources. This means factoring into the plan any additional costs such as building improvements, staffing and programming needs, and other operational costs. With this comes studying how school bus routes will be impacted.
