Hello! I am Colleen Clifford. It is exciting to begin my eighth year teaching at Cooper School. I am looking foward to working with many of the students from last year as I have moved up to 4th grade! Before teaching at this wonderful school, I taught 4th grade at Dover and 5th and 6th grade at Dyer. I'm glad to be a part of the dedicated, hardworking Cooper Family!
Prior to moving to Wisconsin, I taught 3rd and 5th grade as well as worked as an aide and a long term sub. I have been involved in writing curriculum and creating new programs to meet the needs of the students. Altogether I have been working in elementary schools for close to 30 years. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with resources in math and language arts from Illinois State University and a Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership from St. Xavier University in Chicago. In addition, I have another 39 hours of coursework. I also teach adults online through Gateway Technical College in the Foundation of Teacher Education (FOTE) Associate's Degree program.
When I am not at Cooper, my time is spent with my family. I am a widow with 2 children, Jack and Megan. Jack is a sophomore and loves to play sports: golf, basketball, and soccer. With golf being Jack's favorite, he plays in many Junior PGA Tournmaments around the state. Megan is a freshman and dances about 5 days a week: tap, lyrical, jazz, ballet, and modern. Besides taking dance classes, Megan performs in The Nutcracker at Young Auditorium and in competitions in Illinois and Wisconsin. All of their activities keep me pretty busy!
