This class is offered to children eligible to attend 5 Year-Old Kindergarten in the fall of 2017. Your child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2017. This class will provide children the experience of a kindergarten environment. Children will experience attending large group activities, small group activities including early math and reading skills, art projects and center time. They will learn about taking turns, sharing, following a routine, large and fine motor activities and being responsible for their actions.

In this class students entering first grade in the fall will get practice in the basic skills that will help them transition successfully from kindergarten to first grade. Key concepts in the areas of reading, math, and writing will be stressed and will prepare learner for the next year with an emphasis on workshop formats.

Each week will focus on a genre or author study. We will read different books and complete writing assignments that coincide with that selection. The last day of each week, we will make a fun snack that compliments the books. At the end of the course, students will make a recipe book to take home that includes how to make each recipe as well as more books that fit each snack.

This course would take something that kids are passionate about and teach them about family trees (Studying the Skywalker family tree and then having students research and make their family tree), planetary systems (exploring the planets in Star Wars, writing an "essay" on which planet they would prefer to live, what would be needed to survive there), and engineering (creating and building their own spaceship).

For the curious “cats” that want to dig deeper into exciting topics of interest, this class will provide the opportunity for research, publishing, and project creating (optional). Writing workshop will provide the structure for the research and writing process, and projects will follow the whims of the creators!
Release the poet, the mystery writer, the fantasy writer, and/or the realistic fiction writer in yourself in this summer! Writing workshop will be your platform to launch these fun endeavors. Publish your pieces for small or large audiences or just for yourself. Use any number of publishing forms – digital, pen and paper, blogs, websites, etc., and publish with illustrations or graphics if you desire. Do collaborative work or independent work and let your imaginations run wild!

Through the interview and writing process, bring your family history and culture together. Present your findings in a paper or digital scrapbook to share and enjoy for years to come. Photographs, illustrations, and/or creative designs will add to the final product and make it especially unique and fun you and your family.

Come play your orchestra instrument with fun music that will include dragons, warriors and many more mythical characters! This class will perform music together and learn extra techniques that will help orchestra students build up their playing abilities!
Students will plan and create a paper roller coaster. They will evaluate, test and retest their roller coaster, and analyze how to best manipulate the forces of friction and gravity. They will explain the difference between potential energy and kinetic energy, and then calculate problems involving free fall. Students will also create tracks to better understand centripetal force.

In this class, we will work on blending, breathing, tone, dynamics, expression and harmonizing. Each week will feature a different style of music.
