OTHER INFORMATION FOR THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
Bus cards with details of your child(ren)’s morning and afternoon route numbers, locations, and times will be emailed in waves starting around August 1. Watch for “Bus Info” in the subject line. If you do not have an email address on file in Skyward Family Access, your bus card will be mailed later in the month.
To request transportation to an alternate location due to child care, please complete a School Bus Transportation Related to Child Care Request form and return it to Thomas Bus. This form is for families who live in a busing area. You may find this form on the BASD website, at your child’s school, or you may contact Thomas Bus. For families who do not live in a busing area and would like to request transportation, please contact Thomas Bus at 262-763-7564 to make arrangements directly with them.
One change to our food service program for the upcoming school year is that all students will be offered free breakfast, also known as universal breakfast. Each student must take the full required meal components to meet the definition of a qualifying meal. In the event your child only takes single items they will then be charged a la carte prices. We did a trial of the program at the elementary buildings after spring break last year and will now be continuing that same program, expanding it to all grades.
If you believe your family may qualify for free and/or reduced price meals, please complete the optional step for Add a Food Service Application as part of the registration process. If you complete this step, the application will be submitted electronically. If you prefer to complete a paper form, you may find it directly at www.basd.k12.wi.us > District > Food Service (on the left) > Free & Reduced Price School Meal Application and Instructions (on the right). Paper applications are available in all district buildings as well. Both English and Spanish versions are available. Completed free/reduced price school meal application forms should be submitted to the BASD District Office, 100 N Kane St, Burlington WI 53105.
We will be implementing a 1-to-1 Chromebook initiative starting with the upcoming school year. This is similar to how we have provided technology in the past few years with the exception that high school students will be allowed to bring theirs home. As part of this new initiative, one of the online registration steps contains new guidelines that parents are to review and electronically sign off on that they have read and understand. Watch for additional information from your individual school building as the school year begins.
Please provide updated Immunization Records to your child's school Health Office and Individual Health Plans to the District Office on or before August 26.
Every year you receive a packet of notices, procedures and policies that we are required to provide to families. These notices are available online at www.basd.k12.wi.us > Parents > scroll down to Required Notices. If you would like a paper copy of these documents, they are available in all district buildings.
