SMART is an acronym that stands for Strategic/Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Results Oriented and Time-Bound. The district goals will focus on implementation of Professional Learning Communities, Improving Assessment Literacy, and continued work on the Roadmap for Instructional Excellence in the areas of best instructional practices and supervision of instruction. These over-arching goals are broad in nature and provide a framework for buildings to develop their school improvement plans and SMART goals, which are more specific and focused on student achievement indicators, and then for grade levels, departments, and content areas to develop their SMART goals, which are even more specific and also focused on improving student achievement.
