New Student Probation
All new students will be placed on probation for their first quarter (9 weeks) of attendance. During this period the student must demonstrate appropriate behavior, attitude, performance on work, and meet the attendance requirement. New students must earn at least one credit while on probation.
New students will be required to spend one extra hour at school every day (contract hour) to give him/her ample time to get help with his/her work. New students who do not meet these requirements will be reassigned to their home school.
Students earning less than one credit during a quarter will be put on academic probation for the following quarter. If the student does not earn at least 1 full credit for a second quarter, he/she will be dismissed from the program and reassigned to his/her home school.
Other students may also be placed on probation by the lead teacher.
Students who have difficulty completing their work in a timely manner or need extra instruction may be assigned a contract hour. This means the student will be required to spend an extra hour before or after school getting the extra help he/she needs. If a student needs to reschedule his/her contract hour, he/she must get permission from the lead teacher.
Students who do not meet the attendance requirement will be put on a modified calendar. Students may still complete independent projects, but they are responsible for making arrangements with the teacher to drop off and pick up any assignments or work before or after school hours.
Any student excused from SLCAHS for three quarters for any reason will be reassigned to his or her home school.
