Common Questions
Why are 4K-6 five days a week and 7-12 has both in-person and virtual?
Shifting grades 7 & 8 to BHS opens up Karcher Middle School for younger students. We need the extra space in order to spread younger students out as much as possible within the district buildings. Younger students are in-person five days a week to support their learning and to assist families with childcare needs.
How will 4K-6 students be distanced?
On average an elementary classroom has about 24 students with one teacher. Classrooms will be split in two with half of the students receiving direct instruction with the teacher and half of the students completing independent work under the supervision of a staff member. Each day, students will receive direct instruction and will have time to work on assignments. To allow two classrooms for each class, some students will be shifted to other buildings to make space.
Will middle school students mix with high school students?
BHS is will a "school within a school," maintaining separate atmospheres for the two age groups. Middle school students will be located in a different area in the building and have a separate lunch space.
Will 7-12 siblings be assigned to the same group?
Siblings will be assigned to the same group. Schedules will be released August 7.
