2018 Referendum. A Community-Driven Decision.
For the past few years, the Burlington Area School District has been actively considering how to address the needs at its seven school buildings. Through community forums, two community surveys, a failed referendum and many conversations with community members, parents and staff, we have listened. The $43.6 million referendum question on the November 6 ballot seeks to improve our schools at a cost that is acceptable to taxpayers. The School Board, after reviewing the results of the spring community survey, moved forward with a $43.6 million referendum to fulfill the following:
- Increase safety and security
- Build a new 6-8 grade middle school
- Address maintenance needs
This received support and would help ensure that the schools will be prepared to educate the next generation of students.
