Hello! Let me introduce myself. My name is Julie Bellante and this is my eleventh year teaching at Cooper. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Pre-K through sixth grade, from UW-Whitewater.
This is my twenty-fourth year in the Burlington Area School District. I started out my career teaching first grade and I loved teaching young children how to read. I taught first grade for about fourteen years when an opportunity to teach second grade came my way. Second grade is an exciting year for children as they move from learning to read, to reading to learn. It is very full-filling to watch as they grow into "Big Time Readers"! Teaching young children has always been my passion.
My husband, Joe, and I live in Wind Lake and we have one child. Our son, Joseph IV, started eighth grade at St. Mary's this year! I can't believe how fast he is growing up.
I look forward to a productive and positive year with your child. If I can assist you in any way, please contact me through at school; I can be reached from 7:30-8:00 or 3:30-3:45. Otherwise, you can reach me through a written note or email. I am very excited about this school year and I look forward to getting to know you and your child better!
During this extended time off, it will be important for students to stay connected to school and keep a routine of learning. I am happy to assist you in any way I can, so I have set up some office hours where you can reach through my school email if you have questions about assignments. I will be monitoring my email all day, but you can receive a quick response from 9:00-10:00, 1 1:30-1:00, or 2:30-3:00. (jbellante@basd.k12.wi.us)
