The Burlington Area School District School Board accepted nearly $7,500 in donations from individuals and organizations at their January 14, 2019 meeting. The District is grateful for the generosity of the community and the support it receives.

Ice Fishing Club Funds received funds from KFC ($30) and Scott Taylor ($200)
Fox River State Bank gave $750 to Koral Klub
National Honor Society ($227.03) and Spanish Club ($235.52) received funds from Culver's
WBSD Radio received sponsorships from Subway ($350), Burlington Auto Clinic Inc. ($350), Scott Hermann - Thrivent Financial ($500), BDQ LLC ($250), and Bubba's Brickyard LLC ($350).

CHOCOLATE CITY SNOWSHOE RACE
The inaugural Chocolate City Snowshoe Shuffle will take place at the Burlington School Forest on Saturday, February 16. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., with the first race starting at 9:30 a.m. The show shoe race is open to ages 10 and up. Participants can choose from a 5K or a 10K route and can run or walk. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group.
Registration for the race costs $35. Participants registering before January 20 will receive an embroidered stocking hat. The cost also includes a post-race meal and a race photo.
“The district is looking for more opportunities to use its school forest. The trails have been improved to offer more recreational activities,” said Dan Bocock, the district’s Building and Grounds Director and the race organizer.
The Burlington School Forest, located on Highway J, is a 160-acre forest owned by the district for educational use. The area is open to the public for recreation such as hiking.

Kindergarten Registration
It's time for any new 4K student or 5 year-old student who is not currently enrolled in a Burlington Area School District 4K program to register for 2019-2020 Kindergarten. This registration is for children who will be age 4 or 5 on or before September 1, 2019.
Registration forms can be obtained at any BASD elementary school, the district office (100 N Kane St., Burlington), printed from the BASD 4K/5K website, or mailed (call 763-0210). Completed forms may be returned to any BASD elementary school or district office during regular school hours (Monday–Friday, 7:45 am–4 pm). Please bring a birth certificate so the age can be verified (birth certificates will be returned).
