The Burlington Area School District School Forest is open to the public for their use and enjoyment. there are approximately 160 acres with 5-6 miles of trails. The Burlington Area School District, its teachers and students take great pride in the management and maintenance of this wonderful and unique educational property. Please take care to leave the forest in better shape than you found it.
Here are some forest guidelines to follow:
You May: Walk, Jog, Run, X-Country Ski or Snowshoe on and off the trails. During the winter, if the trails are groomed for skiing, please keep foot trafic off the groomed surfaces.
You May: Walk dogs on or off leash. However only dogs that can be controlled via voice command, whistle or electronic device should be allowed off leash for the safety of others. Please maintain visual contact of your dog(s) at all times. Please remove fecal matter from the walking trails.
You May: Collect berries, leaves, flowers, mushrooms, pine cones and nuts as long as no physical harm is done to plant or tree.
You May: Ride horses on the trails during the dry seasons of the summer and fall. No riding if the trails are soft or when damage to them is possible.
You May: Use picnic facilities. Please make sure all trash and recyclables are placed in the appropriate bins.
You May: Park in the designated parking lot. Please park in a fashion that allows others equal opportunity and access.
You May Not: Discharge firearms, bow or air rifles on forest grounds.
You May Not: Operate snowmobiles, motorcycles, or ATVs on forest grounds.
You May Not: Hunt on forest grounds
You May Not: Camp overnight.
Outhouses are only opened for school or organized activities.
