Special Education Program

Burlington Area School District provides a full range of Special Education services to students with handicapping conditions.  Students are served whenever possible in their home school.  Certain low incidence programs are offered at limited sites.

  • Early Childhood services and supports are offered at Dyer and Cooper Elementary schools, in addition to area daycare centers.
  • Speech/Language services and supports are offered at all schools including the private schools located in Burlington.
  • Project Active Citizen (PAC), which is a Beyond 18 program.  In collaboration with Waterford Union High School, the PAC House provides functional life skill learning in a residential setting to help this age level of special education students become responsible citizens in the community.
  • Project WIN (What I Need) provides students with significant behavioral and mental health disabilities an alternative learning environment.
  • A Bilingual Engagement Coordinator is available to assist Spanish-speaking families with the special education process.
