Welcome 5K Families!

The Burlington Area School District welcomes future 5-year-old kindergarten students to the BASD family!  We understand that starting school can create feelings of both excitement and uncertainty for students and their parents/guardians.  Please know that BASD staff will help families every step of the way!  

Comprehensive Options

To meet the unique needs of a student or family, families can choose between two programs for 5K: Traditional at neighborhood school or Montessori at Cooper Montessori School.

Next Steps

  • If this is the first student to enroll in BASD, then complete the Online New Student Registration Form to get a username and password in Skyward Family Access. Then, complete the application form to enroll in Skyward. To enroll, the parent or guardian needs to provide the following:

    1. Student Information (complete Racial/Ethnic Form and Home Language Survey)
    2. Parent/Guardian Information
    3. Medical Dental Information. This is the doctor's contact information. Health Forms (English / Spanish) can be turned into the school's health aide before school starts. 
    4. Emergency Contact Information
    5. Requested Documents: Upload photos of Birth Certificate and Proof of Residency
    6. 5K preference (Traditional or Montessori). BASD will confirm placement in June. Placement is on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • The district will send an email to confirm we received the enrollment. 

    • The district will attach health forms (English / Spanish) that can be turned in before school starts (preferably no later than August).

  • In August, all students register in Skyward for the school year to update contact information and pay student fees. Each school hosts an open house to meet so your child can meet the teacher and see the classroom.

  •  Attend the first day of school! BASD has a staggered start date for 5K to help students get comfortable in their classroom and to get to know the teacher.
