The Burlington Area School District's Buildings & Grounds Department is dedicated to providing a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment for all students and staff. We partner with principals, teachers, and students to foster a positive atmosphere throughout our schools. Our commitment to safety is evident in our ongoing school safety projects, some of which have been supported by Wisconsin DOJ School Safety Grants. Additionally, a recent 10 year facilities plan guides our larger capital improvements, ensuring our facilities meet the evolving needs of our district. To ensure a healthy indoor environment, we maintain an Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Plan, conduct monthly fire drills, and complete Fire Alarm Inspections.
Providing safe drinking water is a top priority. We maintain a high capacity well that supplies water to Winkler Elementary. This system is regulated and inspected yearly by the Wisconsin DNR. In addition to the inspections, the water supply is monitored by sampling the water for contaminants to include Coliform Bacteria, Nitrates, Volatile Organics, Inorganics, Synthetic Organics, Lead and Copper. Those sampling results are available for review at the DNR link for Winkler Elementary. In compliance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act, we regularly inspect our buildings for asbestos-containing materials and uphold an updated asbestos management plan.
