Other Information for Start of the School Year
High School Students:
Parking passes will be available for pick up after school starts. Students needing a parking pass will have to pay $100 fee and complete a vehicle registration form. High School pictures will be taken on the first day of school. As for school supplies, teachers will provide students with a list of necessary materials on the first day of class.
Bus Cards
Bus cards with details of your child(ren)’s morning and afternoon route numbers, locations, and times will be emailed beginning on July 20. The email will be from Thomas Bus; watch for “Bus Info” in the subject line. If you do not have an email address on file in Skyward Family Access, your bus card will be mailed later in the month.
To request transportation to an alternate location due to child care, even if continuing from the previous year, please contact Thomas Bus at 262-763-7564 as soon as possible (before registration would be appreciated) so they can plan the bus routes accordingly. You will be asked to complete a School Bus Transportation Related to Child Care Request form (4K School Bus Transportation Related to Child Care Request form) and return it to Thomas Bus. This form is for families who live in a busing area. You may find this form on the BASD website, at your child’s school, or you may contact Thomas Bus. For families who do not live in a busing area and would like to request transportation, please contact Thomas Bus at 262-763-7564 to make arrangements directly with them.
Foodservice Program
Families are expected to have money in their child's account before a meal is purchased. Negative balances will be limited to a small amount, and starting in the fall, weekly-automated phone calls will be made to notify families who have negative balances.
If you believe your family may qualify for free and/or reduced price meals, please complete the optional step for Add a Food Service Application as part of the registration process. If you complete this step, the application will be submitted electronically. If you prefer to complete a paper form, you may find it directly on the district's Food Service webpage. Paper applications are available in all district buildings as well. Both English and Spanish versions are available. Completed free/reduced price school meal application forms should be submitted to the BASD District Office, 100 N Kane St, Burlington WI 53105.
We will continue to offer free breakfast for all students. Each student must take the required meal components to meet the definition of a qualifying meal, though, or they will be charged a la carte prices.
Technology
We will be continuing our 1-to-l Chromebook initiative in the upcoming school year. All students in grades K-12 will be taking their Chromebooks home each night. As part of this initiative, one of the online registration steps contains guidelines that parents are to review and electronically sign off on that they have read and understand. Watch for additional information from your individual school building as the school year begins.
Health Information
Please provide updated Immunization Records to your child's school Health Office and Individual Health Plans to the District Office on or before August 23. Complete Step 2/attach records from the Wisconsin Immunization Records or complete the Waiver in Step 4.
Annual Required Notices
Every year you receive a packet of notices, procedures and policies that we are required to provide to families. These notices are available online at Required Notices. If you would like a paper copy of these documents, they are available in all district buildings.
