Welcome to the Burlington Area School District
The Burlington Area School District serves more than 3000 students in 4K-grade 12. Students live in Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth counties. We seek to develop the intellectual, physical, vocational, creative, cultural, and social capabilities of our students through academic programs as well as extracurricular activities. The District’s employees prepare students for the next academic step with the long-term goal of college and career readiness. We offer both a traditional learning environment and a public Montessori program (at Cooper Montessori School).
There are a number of ways for new students to enroll:
4K enrollment is for children who will be age 4 on or before September 1, 2024 and plan to attend 4-year-old kindergarten (full-day or half-day) in the Burlington Area School District. The 4K Enrollment webpage has more details. Look up your address to learn what neighborhood school your child will attend on this webpage.
5K enrollment is for children who will be age 5 on or before September 1, 2024 and plan to attend 5-year-old kindergarten in the Burlington Area School District. Look up your address to learn what neighborhood school your child will attend on this webpage.
BASD participates in the Wisconsin Inter-District Open Enrollment program. Families must submit application forms, either online or to the non-resident district, from February 5, 2024 - April 30, 2024 at 4 pm (per 2019 Wisconsin Act 185). Alternative Open Enrollment allows open enrollment outside of the Spring open enrollment window.
The NEW student online enrollment process is for 1) students moving into the district for the first time, 2) students enrolling in kindergarten (4K/5K) for the first time, or 3) students re-enrolling in BASD after being enrolled in another district/homeschool. BASD has four elementary schools. Look up your address to learn what elementary school (grades K-5) your student will attend.
Returning to BASD (after being enrolled in another district).
If you are a returning family and you have previously used a skyward family access account with Burlington Area Schools, you will not need to request a new account. Instead, please contact our Registrar at (262) 763-0210 ext. 1006 for your existing account login and password if you are unable to reset your password from the skyward family access login page.
WisCo is a charter school with three virtual options for students: fully online, hybrid (some online and some in-person), and a book-based option. Learn more on the Wisco Virtual Charter School webpage.
New students enrolling in high school may want the opportunity to talk to a school counselor to better understand the comprehensive opportunities that Burlington High School offers.
ALL students register and pay student fees for the next year in August. School supply lists for K-8 are published during the summer. High School students are asked to bring a pencil/pen and notebook on the first day of school as school supplies will vary depending on what classes the student takes. Every student is issued a Chromebook.
Please call the District office at (262) 763-0210 with any questions.
Thanks for choosing the Burlington Area School District!
