This video shows some very cool footage of the wreck, filmed by Bob Ballard.  He firmly believes it was a coal dust explosion.

This video clip is a continuation of the first one and explains what happened to the men who were victims of the Ku Klux Klan.  You don't have to watch the entire thing.  It takes you up to the start of the Great Depression and the crash of the stock market.

Watch the video clip and take a few notes for your project.  Show me your notes and gain up to 15 points extra credit.  It will - of course - also help you with your story!

Your assignment for today is to click on this link and then...

1. Choose one topic from 1933-1938 to read and explore.  Document what you learned and which links you went to.

2. Choose two topics from 1939-1945 to read and report back on.  Give details about what you read and what you discovered.

3. When you are finished you may go to the Genocide link and read about another and more recent example of Genocide.  You may get extra credit for the Genocide link if you choose to report back to me on what you read.

Choose one of the cases and read it carefully. Then describe the who, the what, the where, and the why using the information provided for you about the case you chose. Be sure to include your thoughts and opinions, also.

Begin the video clip at 16:00 minutes.  Take notes on the progression of Nazi persecution of the Jewish population in their conquered territory.

Watch the Wounded Knee video clip and add details to your notes from the packet.

Imagine that you were one of the US soldiers at the massacre. Now write a one page defense of their actions from the soldier's perspective.  How do you suppose they were able to defend or rationalize their actions that day?
