Katie Beckett Program - provides Wisconsin Medicaid coverage for children living at home who have substantial limitations in multiple daily activities due to one or more of the following:
- Developmental disabilities,
- Severe emotional disturbances, or
- Physical disabilities/chronic medical illnesses
The Katie Beckett Program is a special eligibility process that allows certain children with long-term disabilities, mental illness, or complex medical needs, living at home with their families, to obtain a Wisconsin ForwardHealth Medicaid card. Children, who are not eligible for other Medicaid programs because the income or assets of their parents are too high, may be eligible for Medicaid through the Katie Beckett Program. A child may be eligible for this source of Medicaid even if they are currently covered under a private health insurance policy. However, Wisconsin Medicaid is the payer of last resort.
If the child meets the Katie Beckett Program eligibility criteria, which is determined through the application review process, then the child will receive a ForwardHealth Medicaid card. This card can be used to pay for medically necessary services and equipment allowed under the Wisconsin Medicaid Program. Information about how to use the card and covered services will be sent to parent(s)with the approval letter.

Family Support Program - The Family Support Program supports children who are living at home who have substantial limitations in multiple daily activities as a result of one or more of the following disabilities:
- Developmental disabilities
- Severe emotional disturbances
- Physical disabilities
The Family Support Program provides families with a coordinated set of strategies to assist them in the provision of support and guidance to their child with a disability while living at home. Support and funding is based on identified needs to achieve prioritized child and family centered outcomes and can cover a wide range of assistance options.
Family Support Program funding can be used to supplement existing family and community resources that assist the family in caring for their child successfully at home. A support and service plan is developed by the local FSP agency through a collaborative relationship with the family. The assessment and plan process identifies strategies and funding options that work forward achieving family prioritized outcomes. Examples of goods and services that could be covered with FSP funding include home modifications, home training and parent courses, respite care, vehicle modification, and specialized nutrition and clothing. Funding of up to $3,000 annually is allowed for each child enrolled in the FSP.
Eligibility requirements apply. Contact CompassWisconsin: Threshold for more information.

The Children's Long-Term Support Autism Waiver provides funding for some specific services that are not covered by the Wisconsin ForwardHealth Medicaid card. For young children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intensive in-home treatment using intense behavioral methods, this CLTS Waiver service aims to help reduce the challenging behaviors often found in children with ASD. Eligible children may participate in this intensive program for up to three years, after which the child may qualify for ongoing waiver services at a less intensive level that address the more diverse needs of the growing child. The goal of the program is for the child to have fewer needs in the future and to make significant gains towards normal development, including an increase in social, behavioral and communication skills that the child can use at home and in their community.
