Mr. Stoughton has been a member of the music faculty teaching chorus, guitar, and general music since 1999. In addition to teaching, he was the Burlington High School Varsity Girls' Basketball Head Coach for five years, as well as a middle school basketball, track, and volleyball coach. Mr. Stoughton is a 1999 graduate of UW-Eau Claire with a Bachelor's Degree in Choral Music Education and also holds a Master's Degree in Education from UW-La Crosse. Mr. Stoughton has presented at the Wisconsin Music Educator's Association conference and been recognized twice by the Who's Who Among American Teachers publication.
In 1999 when Mr. Stoughton took the position of choral music director at Karcher, he started the unique and successful Karcher Vocal Jazz Ensemble which has never received a rating lower than a "1" in any competition or clinic. In addition to the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Mr. Stoughton started the tradition of the annual "Pops" concert which has become both a student and crowd favorite; showcasing some of Karcher's most exceptional young singing talent. For seven years, Mr. Stoughton also directed and played guitar with the popular Orange Crush Band. "OCB" was a rock and soul band which was a collaboration between students and faculty that played at high school basketball games as well as various community events. Mr. Stoughton has also served numerous times as a guest clinician for area middle and high school choral workshops.
In addition to teaching music, Mr. Stoughton enjoys playing guitar and writing, recording, and arranging music. While in college, he was a member of a semi-professional six-man a cappella singing group called, "Gone Public" for which he did a considerable amount of musical arranging. Mr. Stoughton also enjoys collecting, building, and fixing guitars as a hobby. Outside of music and coaching, Mr Stoughton loves working with computers, woodworking, and of course spending time with his wife and two daughters.
