Students will receive credit, advanced placement, or both at most colleges and universities. The amount of credit received varies based on the college, AP score, and the subject. Use the AP Credit Policy Search tool (https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/creditandplacement/search-credit-policies) from Collegeboard to find colleges and universities that offer credit or placement for AP scores. Some colleges grant up to six college credits for a score of 5. Students are also able to move into a higher-level class at college as a freshman. This not only translates into time saved, but also a financial savings for each credit earned while in high school. It is possible for a student to take enough AP exams to enter college at a sophomore standing.
