NEW THIS YEAR - Athletic Registration will be completed online via Skyward.
NEW THIS YEAR
Athletic Registration will be completed online via Skyward. The parent/guardian AND the student will EACH need to register via Skyward. Please complete the following steps in order for the student athlete to be eligible to try out and/or practice at Burlington High School.
ATHLETIC REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED ONE TIME PER SCHOOL YEAR. IF YOUR CHILD PARTICIPATED IN A FALL SPORT THEY DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER FOR WINTER AND/OR SPRING SPORTS.
STEP 1 | PARENT or GUARDIAN REGISTERS VIA SKYWARD
- Visit Skyward.
- Log in to your Family Access account using your existing Login ID and password.
- Click the name of the student you wish to register for athletics.
- Click on “Fill Out Online Form”.
- Complete the two steps shown on the right-hand side of the screen ("Parent Acknowledgement" and "Complete Parent Athletic Registration").
- The Athletic Department will receive a confirmation email that the parent/guardian has
- completed the registration process.
- Please confirm that all parent/guardian information, emergency contact information, and health information is accurate and up to date in Skyward. This information will be shared with coaches in the case of an emergency.
STEP 2 | PAY THE ATHLETIC FEE
There is a $75 athletic fee to participate in athletics at Burlington High School per school year ($150 family maximum). Please pay this fee online, via Skyward, using a credit card. Skyward uses RevTrak to process these payments, the same provider that is used for school registration and food service accounts.
To pay the athletic fee, go to “Fee Management” located on the left side of the page. Click “Add A Fee” and add the “$75 Athletic Fee” to your shopping cart.
In the event that your child decides not to participate in a sport OR if Burlington High School can not offer a sport due to potential restrictions due to COVID-19, athletic fees will be refunded at the end of the school year.
STEP 3 | STUDENT REGISTERS via SKYWARD
- Visit Skyward.
- Log in to your Student Access account using your existing Login ID and password.
- Click on “Fill Out Online Form”.
- Complete the three steps shown on the right-hand side of the screen (Sport Selection, Student Acknowledgement, and Complete Student Athletic Registration).
- The Athletic Department will receive a confirmation email that the student has completed the registration process.
STEP 4 | VALID PHYSICAL MUST BE ON FILE WITH THE ATHLETIC OFFICE
A Physical Clearance Form dated April 1, 2019 or later MUST be on file with the Athletic Department in order to participate during the 2020/21 school year. To check if your child needs a new physical, please go to the HEALTH INFO button, located on the left-side of the screen, and click "Display Options" and "Show Physical Exams". If the date of the student athlete’s last physical is April 1, 2019, or later, your child DOES NOT need a physical for this school year and no further action is needed.
If the date of the student’s last physical is between April 1, 2018 and March 30, 2019, the student athlete has two options:
Option 1: Get a new sports physical. Take a physical card to your doctor appointment; the doctor must date and sign the card. Click HERE to print a copy of the physical card that needs to be completed by the parent, student, and the doctor. Turn in to the Athletic Department.
Option 2: Turn in a WIAA Physical Extension Form. The WIAA is allowing an extension of a student’s physical during the Coronavirus pandemic only if/when the local primary care physician is unable to provide a NEW physical for the student that already has an existing physical on file with the school. This form is to be completed by the parent of the student-athlete. While the student’s physical time period will be extended, it is expected that the student does get a physical by their primary care physician as soon as possible. Click HERE to print a copy of the WIAA Physical Extension Form.
Physical Clearance Forms or WIAA Physical Extension Forms may be dropped off in the Athletic Office Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM. You may also email the form to Trisha Skiles.
STEP 5 | COACH IS NOTIFIED:
Once Steps #1 - #4 have been completed, the athletic department will notify the coach that the student athlete is eligible to try out, practice, and compete. Note (new this year): Practice Permits will not be issued. It is the responsibility of the family and student to complete all steps required to participate in athletics at BHS.
