Welcome to the 2024 Burlington Athletics Team. The purpose of our sport is to make you a better athlete and human being. My belief as a coach is that you will become a better person and athlete through the sport of Track & Field. As a coach and athlete I can speak from experience on how the sport of Track and the lessons I have learned, have helped me throughout my life. Like anything in life it requires sacrifice, hard work, and patience to be truly successful. Nothing worth anything comes easily. However, like very few things it completely exposes our strengths and weaknesses and will help to make us better people if we so choose. So...welcome back to any 2023 member, and welcome to all the newcomers!
Why track? Because we will absolutely make you a better athlete and human being if you do your part. It doesn’t matter if you hope to earn a medal at the State Track Meet, simply want to get into better shape and meet friends, or prepare and improve yourself for another sport, Track has something for everyone. There are 18 events in Track and Field. Some last 3 seconds, some last 15 minutes. We will find an event for you.

TRAINING SCHEDULE
Monday - 3:20 PM start time
3 minutes warm up, sprint drills
Mini hurdles, big hurdles for flexibility
Band explosion/start work-4 x 20 meter sprints
Band endurance pulls-2 x 60 meter strides
Single leg strength work/core work (Throws/vault field work)
Individual and partner stretch
Lower body lifting
Tuesday - 3:20 PM start time
3 minutes warm up, sprint drills
Jump rope
Mini hurdles, big hurdles for flexibility
Interval work (speed endurance or distance)(throws work)
Core work
Individual and partner stretch
Wednesday - 2:45 PM Girls lift/3:20 PM Boys lift
Upper body lift to start practice for time efficiency
3 minutes warm up, sprint drills
Mini hurdles, big hurdles for flexibility
